Tavoite		1. The students know the concept of internal entrepreneurship, what it means to become an entrepreneur and the significance of entrepreneurship and innovations in society. 2. The students understand the principles of profitable business activities and the business logic of their field. 3. The students understand the role of customership in business and other activities and know how to apply that knowledge to identify customers for their own know-how. 4. The students demonstrate an ability to manage themselves in an entrepreneurial way in a customer-oriented group. 5. The students know how to identify needs in customer-service situations and services and how to develop these into product opportunities (or business opportunities). 6. The students recognise and understand their own capacities and attitudes concerning entrepreneurship. 7. The students are aware of and capable of utilising the JAMK entrepreneurship and innovation environments and related support services.
Sisältö		Most of the entrepreneur section is completed in school-, department- or degree-programme-specific groups. During the course, students use their own experiences, observations and acquired knowledge to establish an understanding of individual market needs or demand for which they develop their own solution (product concept). In small groups, the students examine the business potential of their idea and share the ideas of their groups and their chances of success with the other students on the course. The ideas are tested with potential customers and further developed on the basis of the feedback received. The development and communication tools used are the Business Model Canvas and the Value Proposition Canvas. The students acquire basic information on entrepreneurship and profitable business in functional ways. The students test their capacity for entrepreneurship and expand their understanding of their field with real business cases.
Suoritustapa		The studies include workshops, group work, independent work, coaching, lectures by experts and consultations. The studies and teaching utilise the possibilities of JAMK’s wide range of entrepreneurship learning environments. The key part of learning is the students’ own activity, self-assessment and development plans. The course supports a type of learning culture in which students learn, as individuals and in teams with the help of the instructors, to face and deal with insecurity and failures and to strengthen their risk-taking, daring and decision-making ability and readiness to implement matters in a goal-oriented manner.

Management Accounting, 5 cr

Tavoite		The purpose of the Management Accounting course is to enhance student’s knowledge and understanding, and intellectual skills principally in the field of management accounting and more importantly their linkages with the issues pertaining to corporate finance, and strategy. Active participation and studying on the course will develop a student’s skills to - demonstrate theoretical and conceptual knowledge to identify and analyze business problems in a global context (KU1) - select, analyze, and evaluate business data and information and transform raw data into useful and actionable information (IS1) According to above-mentioned Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs), students find exposure to numerous situations, whereby they to record and present financial accounting data in such a manner that the users of financial accounting statements can know about the real financial health of the firm being analyzed. The true, objective and unbiased financial information help managers to plan and revise their business strategies, check financial health, policy formulation, and planning process. The process of understanding how financial accounting information assists to make the corporate decision-making process is a core element of this course. Students are also expected to understand different management accounting functions and application diverse management accounting techniques, methods and tools in different business situations in order to solve challenging business problems. The students understand the relevance of high-quality accounting information and their multiple interpretations in business life, which ultimately optimizes planning, strategies, risk management, and business-decision making. The students are further expected to understand that accounting is not the isolation of the overall business strategy of corporates. The students are able to create and produce indicators describing the success of operations based on cause/consequence logic, as well as able to collect information pertaining to corporates needed for measurement. They are able to identify the economic requirements and the resource requirements related to personnel, necessary to achieve the aforementioned objectives. They are able to use budget information as a tool for examining and evaluating the results. The students are able to analyze the financial risks of a firm and manage them.

Tavoite		The student becomes more aware of his or her own cultural distinctiveness, as well as that of others, and is more sensitive to and empathetic toward the needs of distinct others. Insights and skills are developed that will help to facilitate the development of intercultural communication competence.
Sisältö		Globalisation processes, transnational commerce and high levels of professional mobility have served to increase cultural diversity in the workplace, thus requiring managers to become more aware of and sensitive to the role that culture plays in international business. Because most cultural assumptions reside in the unconscious mind, the content and approach of this course is designed to: 1. Increase one's understanding of the role of culture and its effects on relationships with distinctive others, with an emphasis on culture's impact on communication processes and business practices. 2. To critically examine theoretical frameworks which are employed in order to study culture, including both generalised and particularistic perspectives as well as individual and shared values, and to increase one's understanding of culturally-based communication styles and semiotic codes. 3. To develop critical thinking skills in the study of culture, particularly regarding the use of the nation as a unit of analysis as contrasted with more individualistic perspectives. 4. To help facilitate the development of intercultural competences in inter- and multicultural business contexts.
Suoritustapa		Lectures, small group projects, workshops, and various media platforms are commonly used, and an emphasis is placed on the use of experiential teaching and learning methods as well as the development of teaching and learning tools.

Tavoite		The student is able to use basic quantitative and qualitative data processing tools for collecting, presenting and analysing data. The student understands the basic concepts in quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The course will focus on practical examples including the use of SPSS and NVivo tools. KU1: Able to employ theoretical and conceptual knowledge to identify and analyze business problems in global contexts. IS1: Able to gather , analyse, and evaluate business data and information and transform empirical data into useful and actionable information. TS1: Able to communicate effectively in English in oral, written and electronic formats using communication and information technology for business applications and prepare and present reports.
